What happened to Holiness?

I am going to start off this blog just a little different tonight.I would like for everyone reading this to follow the instructions I have typed below. Read them carefully and then after reading them all, follow them before you finish reading this blog.
       1) Close your eyes and clear your mind of all thoughts good or bad
       2) Try to imagine yourself sitting in the throne room of Heaven at Jesus feet , who is sitting at the right hand of God the Father. Yes imagine yourself in the presence of both Jesus and the Father
       3) you are having the time of your eternal life worshipping and praising God , the angels are singing. The light from God himself is radiating as far as you can see and then some, lighting up everything in its path.
       4) Do this for about 2 minutes, just relaxing and imagining this scene in Heaven.

OK now that your back imagine that right in the middle of all this serenity and bliss, someone walks up and looks at you and says " Oh ( Insert one of many foul words we here daily from Christians), what up man. I didn't know you were here , we need to get together and celebrate, I'll bring the beer" ...Now I know exactly what you are thinking, your thinking this will never happen in Heaven. Number one anyone who did that in front of God the Father and Jesus would have to be unsaved right. And on top of that, Jesus wouldn't allow that right, surely he wouldn't have someone that acts like that in Heaven, I mean only a sinner would be so uncouth as to speak or act like that in front of God right. ......WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every day in our churches, our homes, our schools, our work places , etc., this kind of words and actions are used by those who call themselves BORN AGAIN CHRISTIANS.
1 Peter 1:13-16  " Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.  As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;  for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."  Revelation In this set of verses out of 1 Peter 1, we see Peter writing to the Church and telling it to be HOLY., just as God is Holy. Now we as a church have accepted unholy attitudes and thoughts to invade our lives for far to long. In the earlier part of this blog I asked you to imagine the beauty of Heaven and then I disrupted that by asking you to basically imagine someone sinning right at the feet of Jesus. Now that scenario may be a little hard to imagine, but it should not be . Why do I say that? Well, this is something God has had on my mind for about a week now and I'll tell you what brought it on. At work I have several people who profess to be Christians, or have a relationship with Christ, and I have many many more who are either of other religions or belief systems. Now you would think that those who are Christians would be the ones I hang around, and you would be wrong for the most part. One of them is a deacon in a church and I have heard things come out of this persons mouth that you would hear in a night club not a deacons house. One is a rep of a company we do business with and from what I understand , spoke a few weeks ago in a Sunday service over at Duke Chapel, and yet I have heard word from his mouth and even talk of lustful things towards women. Then there are those who say I am a Christian but on Friday nights you find them at the local nightclub, or "juke Joint" (for the older readers lol), or the strip clubs, the casino, the ABC store. Or you see them out at the restaurant with their spouse or friends and they have 3 or 4 "empties" in front of them and a full one on top of that.WHERE IS THEIR HOLINESS? Well I can tell you where it's not. Now you can disagree with me but you will never convince me that there is nothing wrong with this behavior. If there isn't anything wrong with it, then why not incorporate it into Sunday Service. Why not have a wet t-shirt contest in the church sanctuary to raise money to build the new fellowship hall. huh?I'll tell you why we don't, BECAUSE IT'S WRONG. IT'S SINFUL AND IT'S UNHOLY ACTS. But people think there's nothing wrong with it, but they swear if God himself was standing there they wouldn't do it in front of him because of who he is and the love and respect they have for the saviour. Malarkey. Try to blow that smoke up someone else's pants leg. Have they forgotten that HE IS STANDING RIGHT BESIDE THEM !!!!!! Hello McFly, anyone home. He sees it all. He knows everything we do and there is no place to hide. You can't run into the boy's room and hide to "Smoke". He's there. You can't duck down behind the bushes , He's there. HE IS EVERYWHERE. 19:6 "......... for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.". Omnipotent means all powerful, around everywhere (omnipresent). He is with you as you read this.
Holiness is a standard that the world has convinced the Church it does not need, but brother and sister, I disagree 100%. We need Holiness now more than we ever have. In these uncertain times of banks failing, natural disasters happening right and left, the economy teetering , we should be living a life that is fitting to God. Matthew 5:48 says " Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. "  Well I don't know about you but a foul word is not being perfect, and if it's done daily and without even thinking about it because it's a part of your language then it's not even trying to be perfect. 1 Peter 3:10 ".For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: "
Well what about the Alcohol. I have heard Christians say so many times the Bible says be not drunk, but it never says don't drink. Well I disagree. Luke 1:15 says about Jesus " For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. " Now if we are to be Perfect like he was as we are told in the earlier passage we read, then the Bible is clearly telling us that Christ was perfect and we are to be perfect like him, and there is no way we can be if we indulge in wine or strong drink. 1 Thessalonians 5:22 states to " Avoid every kind of evil."(NIV) the King James Version of that verse reads "Abstain from all appearance of evil.  " Not just avoid it but abstain , or stay away from , the APPEARANCE of evil. Now I don't know about you , but to the UNSAVED, not untrained, eye, sitting in a bar drinking after proclaiming Christ would appear that you have no real salvation and you are a hypocrite. Wouldn't you agree with me?
What I am trying to say folks is WE, yes We, have to be on our game and we MUST STOP ACCEPTING UNHOLY LIFESTYLES FROM THOSE WHO CLAIM TO BE A CHRISTIAN. The world is watching us and every time a foul word slips from, or a beer is raised to ,a "Christians" mouth  they have one more reason to say WHY SHOULD I FOLLOW THIS JESUS YOU SAY YOU FOLLOW? YOU DO THE SAME THINGS I DO SO WHAT MAKES YOUR WAY ANY BETTER THAN MINE. CHRISTIANS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A CUT ABOVE AND YOU MY FRIEND ARE NOT. How many times has this been said about you and I? How many times has this been said about the deacon board, the pastor, the Sunday school teacher or the church as a whole? It's time to take back the life you and I were given and start living HOLY again. for remember Matthew 5:8 says " Blessed [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God. ". I like to also read it like this Matthew 5:8 " Blessed are the holy ones, for they shall see God" for you see brother and sisters , Holy means sanctified, pure.
Are you living a Pure life? If your like me this blog has really spoken to me. I pray that you will receive what I have out of this and I pray that tomorrow (Sunday) finds you in the house of the Lord for worship. God bless all, good night and remember Jesus is calling , calling oh sinner come home.

In God's love,
   Bill Roy
