Fitting In with the Church........

Some of you may still being high school or middle school as you read this, and if you are I truly hope you get the message I believe God has told me to write. For those of us who are long removed from that time of our life, I ask you to think back to when you were in high school, oh I know for some of us that's longer than others but humor me if you will. I ask you to do this because of the fellowship we had today after church, it got me to thinking about high school and how I know I felt at times when I went. but let me start kind of at the beginning of this story and maybe it will make sense.
Today after church, I would have to say roughly 25 or 30 of us went out to lunch at McDonald's, just to have a time of fellowship and fun outside of the church building. We all kind of settled into our chairs, and I have to say it was kind of funny watching the pastor(we love you though Brother John ), go from table to table trying to visit with everyone and converse with everyone. Watching all the young people trying to figure out who they were going to sit with and best of all, our "little" group took up half the restaurant. We got stares from people, especially when the pastor said grace over the food, but none of us really even thought twice about it.We enjoyed a time of fellowship that I believe every christian should experience. We discussed church, family, the nation now and in days gone by, we discussed ideas for ministry and evangelism. We laughed and told jokes and made fun of ourselves and just enjoyed the family of God ,outside of the house of God.Oh I am sure the people of McDonald's thought we were never going to leave as we stayed about 2 hours and just were not in a hurry, mainly I think because everyone was having so much fun. But I believe that when we would look over and see people staring t us, it wasn't because of dislike so much, I believe it was because  they were curious and wanted to be a part of something like that. What they saw went a long way in witnessing to the outside world because it showed the world that being a Christian doesn't mean you can't have fun, or that you have to be serious all the time.It showed them that we are ordinary people, but we are also a people who are serious about Jesus and the joy he gives us. Now who wouldn't want to be a part of that.
And that's when it hit me. I remembered back in high school how it felt to want to be a part of something so bad, but to be afraid to reach out and try to get in to what ever it was I wanted to be a part of. and I remember that the disappointment of not being able to be a part of whatever it was, in my case I really wanted to be a varsity football player but a) I knew I wasn't good enough and b) I would go back and forth with another guy for first and second chair Trumpet in the band and thought I might have a shot at a music scholarship so I didn't want to mess that up. I bet alot of us can relate to that feeling from high school. Most people I know can think back to high school and remember wanting to be a star athlete, or cheerleader, or the most popular kid in school, or whatever it was you wanted but couldn't do for one reason or another. Or for some people it was just plain rejection by your peers and wanting to fit in was all they wanted.
How many people today that saw us out at McDonald's thought to themselves, man if I could just be a part of something like that, if I could just fit in with that crowd. Look at how much fun they are having, boy I wish I could join them. How many people do we walk past each and every day that are saying to themselves, man if I could just fit in somewheres, if my life just had some meaning to it, if I could make sense of what's going on in my life.Well guy's that's where our witness comes in, that's where we are able to a)tell people the good news of the Gospel, b) That there is a place where they fit it , c) and there is a way to make sense of this life and it all starts with JESUS.  In John 14:6 Jesus says " I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.". He is our starting spot. There is no other way to get to Heaven except by Jesus. It doesn't matter how good of a person you are or have been in this life, without you repenting of your sins ans accepting Christ as your saviour you will never see Heaven. That's is what we must tell people. but we can also tell them that after they repent of their sins and ask Christ into their hearts and lives as saviour that they automatically fit in.  1 Corinthians 12:12-14 tells us that "For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also [is] Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether [we be] Jews or Gentiles, whether [we be] bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many....That's right we are ONE. One body of believers and we all fit together, for as this same chapter of 1st Corinthians tells us in it's earlier verses that each of us is given a different spiritual gift. Not every man is called to be a preacher, or a teacher, or an evangelist. Some of us might be called to clean the church, some of us might be called to work in the kitchen, some of us might be called to work in the nursery, but we are all called by THE SAME LORD, which is Jesus. Which means that we all fit together. So what we have to show others is not only a Godly life but also a Godly acceptance, and to many times we fail in the one realm or the other, which actually causes us to fail in both areas. For you see, we cannot live a Godly life without showing Godly acceptance of others. Oh I know they might look different , or talk different. They might be another skin tone, they might be a convert from another religion, but guess what. If they a born again Christian, they fit right in. We all seem to forget at one time or another we were that person. New in Christ and trying to figure out where we fit into the family of God. But we also forget that someone or several someones, took us under their wings, showed us Godly acceptance and helped us to realize that in the family of born again believers, the only outsider's should be those who have not given their lives over to Christ, and that even then they, the outsiders, are all candidates for adoption into the family of God, it's just up to us to help them "finalize" their adoption process so that they to can come in and sup with the Lord.
I encourage you brothers and sisters to go out this week and tell someone about Jesus. To let them know that he is waiting to adopt them into the family of God and that yes they will fit in, just all those who came before them have, and like all those who come after them will. The only way the Kingdom of God will advance, is if we , the born again spirit filled believer, will go out and witness to others who are lost and headed for hell. Then and only then will Revival start in our churches, our homes and in our Nation. God bless those who have helped us to get where we are today, now its time we realize that we are to be the mentors for a new generation of Christians, whether they be 15 or 50, we must be about the Father's business.God bless each and everyone of you and I hope to see you soon. I
If you have never accepted Christ as your saviour and you would like to but want someone to guide you through, please contact me at cntrydadof3@gmail.om, christcalled@gmail.com, or on my cell phone at 919-208-5548. I will pray with you and pray for you, and help you to find a church home no matter where you are located. I will pray that the spirit of God will use you in a mighty way and I will pray that once you have made that decision and accepted Christ into your life that you will find someone to guide you in your walk with Christ. If you have accepted Christ then Be about the Father's business brother or sister and show others what he has done for you and what he can do for them. I ask you to pray for me as I am praying that this is the year I can become a licensed minister and I am praying for a change in circumstances that I might be able to fulfill my calling in God's time.
