True Love

In today's society, with its ever changing mentality on whats right and wrong and it's fast moving pace, the word Love is thrown around like a baseball at practice. It's meaning always taking on a new form , depending on who is using it and how they are using it. For some, its a temporary emotion, strictly for the moment they are in. For some its a word they use to describe any and everything they like in life, regardless if its their companion, or a cup of coffee.
In my opinion, Love is the greatest emotion a person could ever have. It's the feeling you get when you find that person of the opposite sex that you want to share the rest of your life with and do anything you can in this world to make them happy. It's the feeling you get when you find out that you are going to be a parent, and then when that moment comes and you hold that child in your arms, weather it be your child, or grandchild, you know that you would do anything to protect them and make sure they have what they need. And Love is part of the greatest story ever told, as we learned from the message in Church Sunday, because GOD so Loved the WORLD,which in my opinion makes it the greates emotion known to man.
In 1 COR:4-8 it says"Love is Patient, Love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices in truth. It always protects, always trusts, always perseveres. Love never fails. "Did you read that LOVE NEVER FAILS. Wow what a statement, that no matter what Love never fails. How do we know this, well Jesus is the pinnacle of Love. In John 15:13 Jesus says that "Greater Love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends". We know this to be true as he laid down his life for all the world, so that all who believe in him and confess him as Lord and Saviour shall one day live eternally with him in Heaven.
In real life though this is not always the case and we know it,even though we should strive to have that type of Love in our lives. I attended a small church in Doddridge Arkansas for several years and this was a small community spread out over many miles with several local small churches of like 60-80 members, like the one I attended. A young man from the church graduated in May and I believe it was in June or early July when he and 2 other boys from the church were headed to wal mart to meet up with some girls. Well they had to cross highway 59 there in Atlanta TX  which was two lanes going north, then a crossover spot and then two lanes going south. Well after making it to the crossover spot the driver asked him if he could go, he said NO but the driver heard Go and went. The ensuing wreck with an 18 wheeler sent the driver out the drivers window of this small single cab S10 pickup, injured the young man in the middle pretty badly and immediately killed the young man in the passengers seat. But a decision was made by the young man that died, I don't know if by instinct or survival mode, or by the Love he had for his friend, but he turned in that split second and wrapped himself around the boy in the middle, and in turn that is more than likely what allowed him to survive we were told. This young man, with his whole life ahead of him, gave his life and by doing so made sure his friend would live. WOW, What an example of TRUE LOVE! For Greater Love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
My brothers and sisters, if you were faced with that same situation, could you make the same decision? What if it was a homeless person, or a complete and total stranger, could you give your life so that they could live? Hard decisions to make, but one that we must all ponder. We all know we would lay down our life to protect our families, but what about those around us. We have soldiers who give their lives daily to protect our way of life, and the freedom to live life as we see fit. Can you make that decision, do you practice Love that is patient, kind, selfless and not selfish, a love that keeps no record of wrong doing? I challenge everyone who reads this to examine your life and ask yourself, do I know, or do I show true love? If you are looking for true love then I implore you to confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Ro 10:9 and let the Love that only Christ can give come into your heart and  reserve your spot in Heaven today.

In Gods Love
Bill
